Summer Research Sponsor 2014

Deadline: March 01, 2014 at 11:59 PM HST - CLOSED

Be a Summer Research Sponsor to a Psi Chi student this year! All professors with a PhD in a psychology related field are encouraged to consider sponsoring. Be added to our website sponsor list for the 2013-14 year by filling out this quick application. Psi Chi students will be able to contact you through the information you provide. You will evaluate if your interests mesh and will decide if you want to mentor the student during their summer project. Having a sponsor is one of the criteria for application to the Undergraduate Summer Research Grants.

You are not required to be a member of any particular organization to be a sponsor. APS will grant a free membership to any faculty who sponsors a student applying for Summer research grants through Psi Chi. To be added to our list of sponsors you should be interested in working with students who want to pursue research and be willing to mentor them as they develop ideas and collect data. The main purpose of this program is to connect Psi Chi students with faculty mentors at nationally recognized research institutions. To qualify for a summer research grant, the research must be conducted during the summer for approximately 10 weeks, while the student is still an undergraduate, not after graduation. Psi Chi will award a total of 24 summer grants across 4 entry categories; APS, CUR, SRCD, and Psi Chi. The grants will be $5,000 each (a stipend of $3,500 to the Psi Chi student plus $1,500 to the sponsoring faculty member).
